Avalanche Education / Clinics / Guiding

I have decided to offer more Avalanche Education, Backcountry bootcamp clinics, and guiding for this year! The USFS is reviewing my permit application, and Im doing all the behind the scenes work to create the proper experience for riders.

Lets Ride Adventures has a new website and scheduling / booking component that makes it easy to sign up for a course, clinic or guided adventure. So click the link and check out what Im offering for this season I will be offering these experiences in the Sierra. I always get asked…. “does it snow where you live?” and while yes, I technically live in California….(not always that stoked on that) what I am stoked on are these things:

Terrain: The Sierra mtn range is home to the tallest peak in the lower 48, MT Whitney, we have alpine terrain, wicked creeks, old growth pines, and a ton of epic granite features mixed in all of the riding zones.

Snowfall: 400″ is our season average snowfall!!! thats around 33 feet of snow! But dont get me wrong we dont always get that much, because the big years, like record setting seasons have doubled that at over 800″…… hahahaha yes, look it up, its true. the down side is we can also get bad seasons, but even when those hit, we get between 275 to 300 days of sunshine each year…. so if the math is right….. chances are you will hit a blue bird pow day in the winter!

Access: I live 15-20 min from 4 different trail heads, and these are the ones I am applying for permits to use for courses, clinics, and guiding. Little Truckee Summit, Bassets Station, Gold Lakes, and Yuba Pass. After leaving the parking areas, theres thousands of miles of rideable terrain, which means when you know where to go, you can always find untracked snow, and Ive been riding these areas for over 25 years.

Support: Another bonus is also living about 10 minutes from Toms Snowmobiles. The Local Skidoo dealer. I have been working with the Toms crew since 2012. They all ride, they all know how to treat customers, and they all know how to work on sleds the right way. Clients of mine get a red carpet service, and the boys at Toms always help out to get you back on the snow as fast as possible. They also offer all the same parts that I run on my sleds to enhance the ride, so you can pick up some epic upgrades.

Why sign up?

Avalanche Education: I believe you owe it to your riding partners families to have proper avalanche education. Every year riders die in avalanches that they trigger or someone in their group triggers. You should know how to avoid the avalanche prone slopes on any given day and understand what the conditions really are, also how to understand the avalanche bulletin. Its not rocket science, but there are some specific things to understand, and then lets talk about rescue. Actually knowing how to use your transceiver, probe, and shovel. Students that do this for the first time with me always say “wow, I didnt think there were specific ways to do this….” So its on you to be the best partner you can, and get formal training.

Guided Adventures, this Im offering for groups, or individuals that are looking to have me provide a level of safety, seek out the untracked areas, and put in lines you can follow to the goods. Wether your looking for easy riding meadows to carve pow, or want to challenge your skills by following me into some wicked drainages, I will take the guess work out of riding the backcountry and get you some epic days. Or maybe you want to explore somewhere new, come on out and lets ride!

Backcountry Bootcamp Clinics. Most people want to be better, well this is hands down the best way to improve your riding skills. I have been pushing my abilities for over 25 years on snowmobiles. I have found some fundamentals that will take your riding to the next level. My main focus is rider position, and good base line fundamental skills. From there we can turn up the volume. If your beginning and need to work on side hills, powder turns, or your intermediate and want to do down hill hook turns and panel slides, or its time to ratchet up into bow ties, steep lines, and hop overs….. I will get you there, and we will have a daymn good time doing it.

So If this speaks to you, or your not sure, hit me up, or just go book some days with me and I promise I will deliver and we will have a blast. Lets Ride Adventures
